Fish-Bombing Activities In Lahad Datu Foiled

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) foiled fish-bombing activities in waters off Pulau Kun Kun, here, Sunday.

MMEA Lahad Datu Zone Director Commander Dr Suzanna Razali Chan said MMEA spotted two boats conducting fish-bombing activities at 6.16pm and 6.31pm following a tip-off.

“Four Bajau Palauh aged between 20 and 40, believed to be the crew of the two boats, were detained, while two engines, two hoses with a compressor and two bottles containing a substance suspected to be used for fish-bombing activities were seized,” she said.

Suzanna reminded the maritime community against fish-bombing activities as it may bring a negative impact to the ecosystem and endanger the lives of perpetrators and divers.
